Individual vibration damping for complex pump test stands through low-frequency air spring systems
A university of applied sciences team optimises oil pumps to reduce the fuel consumption of combustion motors. Numerous tests are necessary for this. A test stand caused undesired vibrations. PLM air spring elements from ACE ensure damping at several points. The optimum design was achieved with the company-produced measurement case and an external measuring sensor that was connected to a tablet PC. The low-frequency elements provide a significant isolating effect from a frequency of 5 hertz and above, and prove themselves to be significantly more effective than the previously used rubber-metal isolators.

End position damping for hydraulic cylinders in test systems In a testing facility for vehicle tanks, the test specimens are pulled out of the water with a support arm. A hydraulic cylinder carries out the swinging movement and is attenuated in the end position by two TUBUS TR85-50. Even if this work could be taken over by other absorber solutions, the energy balance clearly speaks for the benefits of the profile dampers: they are inexpensive, they save space, they are free of leaks due to solid construction and are suitable for underwater functions in the test pool.

Safety damping for the loading mechanism of lathes ACE TUBUS profile dampers protect the integrated loading station on a new high speed machining centre. The ACE TUBUS damper is designed to prevent overrun on the high speed loading station of a Camshaft machining centre used in the automobile industry. In the event that the drive train fails during operation or incorrect data is inputted the ACE TUBUS damper absorbs the impact preventing costly damage to the machine. The TA98-40 TUBUS damper impressed engineers with this exceptionally long service life in operation. When used as an emergency stop the TUBUS damper can absorb up to 73 % of the impact energy.

Profile dampers and compact sliders: sheet metal working up to 1 million strokes For the forming, folding, punching and cutting of steel sheets, voestalpine Camtec GmbH wanted to realise new compact slides that achieve service lives beyond 1 million strokes. The company was looking for compact dampers that could absorb the greatest possible forces when integrated into the tool as an end stop. After a consultation and sampling process, the choice fell on ACE TUBUS profile dampers.

To protect the movable topp art of the unit, including the hood, the designers were looking for inexpensive dampers. They chose our TR30-15H profile dampers because they had already had very good experiences with our hydraulic dampers.

Increase speed and reduce downtime with automatic sealing of screw caps A customer of Metallatelier GmbH needed a special machine for automatically capping bottles with disinfectant during the COVID-19 pandemic. The German company optimised a proven design for this purpose. This is also because the designers chose our miniature shock absorbers for end position damping and limiting the contact roller gripping movement. At the bottom, two MC150EUM brake the pneumatic linear slide, serve to limit the closing movement in the end position and also protect the entire construction in the event of an accident. At the top, a harder designed single type MC150EUMH ensures saved space and safe deceleration of the slide.

Securing linear drive units mechanically GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung in Darmstadt, Germany, operates a unique accelerator for heavy ions. Currently, the international accelerator facility FAIR, one of the largest research projects worldwide, is being built there, aiming to produce and research matter in the laboratory that otherwise only occurs in the universe. For the collector ring, which is used to store and cool the ions, the GSI engineers were looking for mechanical rather than electronic components that protect the drive units which are equipped with powerful linear motors.
